MisuraEmme’s modern-day classics
A company with a tradition of more than 100 years as well as an international flavour, rooted in the Brianza town of Mariano Comense, MisuraEmme is the quintessence of Italian design. MisuraEmme’s collections arise from the craft tradition, which has been passed down through three generations, the high quality of workmanship, and the selection of fine materials. Furthermore, a reputation originated from the company’s early collaboration with names that have become ingrained in the collective imagination for their avant-garde style, that has produced some remarkable modern-day classics.
One such classic is the Elegie bookcase designed by Ignazio Gardella in 1949. An iconic piece that anticipated the concept of modularity and has been sensibly re-edited by MisuraEmme as part of the “Atelier Collection I Maestri” to adapt it to today’s needs of living.
With an imposing yet light vertical aluminium structure with equidistant holes that are now, as then, the key distinguishing feature of this avant-garde piece, as well as functional yet decorative details that allow the insertion of the modules where desired.
A historical product still included in the current collection is the AR1 bar trolley, designed by Alfred Roth in 1930. With a disarming modernity that does not seem to have been affected by the passage of time and fashion, it features a tubular structure and wheels in chromed steel, a bottle container in perforated sheet aluminium, and one with two flap doors in a black lacquer finish, details which are still relevant today and embody originality and ease of use.
Conceived by Finnish master Alvar Alto in 1932, the AA1 sofa bed is yet another timeless perennial. This adjustable sofa bed perfectly reflects the principles of economy, simplicity of use, and “lightness” in the figurative sense, as recommended by the German Functionalist Movement that inspired Alto.
The artful anticipation of trends and the prompt response to the evolution of taste deliver a collection of contemporary design furnishings whose unrivalled creativity marks an impressive chapter in the history of design.
The elements are processed and combined with taste, elegance, and attention to detail; these are MisuraEmme’s trademarks that have contributed to its uniqueness.
